SYSTEM_ID and Metadata
The following table was created from inspecting several thousand GEDCOM files found on the Internet. It shows instances of <SYSTEM_IDs> combined with other metadata from a document's HEAD record.
- The SYSTEM_ID column shows the value of the HEAD.SOUR subrecord. When there is more than one value, the other values were also found for the same application. Some applications include a program version number in the HEAD.SOUR subrecord rather than in the HEAD.SOUR.VERS subrecord and that leads to multiple entries in this table cell.
- The SOUR.VERS column shows the value of the HEAD.SOUR.VERS subrecord. The variations (if any) are sorted by the value in this column from lowest-to-highest order when possible.
- The GEDC.VERS column shows the value of the HEAD.GEDC.VERS subrecord.
- The CHAR column shows the value of the HEAD.CHAR subrecord. Values that appear to be incorrect are shown like this.
When a metadata column is empty, the value was not supplied in the HEAD record, possibly due to a syntax error.
The combinations shown in the table do not show all the possible variations for any given <SYSTEM_ID>.
